Dog Sweater Help Needed

I am new to knitting and have conquered the basics, but I do not understand how to read the directions.

For example:
Dec Row (RS): K 1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k 1 – 23 (29, 35, 41) sts.

I understand that K means knit and sts means stitches but the rest doesn’t make any sense.

After looking throught the videos, I know how to k2tog, but do not know when I am supposed to (at the beginning of the row, middile or end?)

“k to last 3 sts, k2tog” I assume it means knit to the last 3 stiches then knit 2 stiches together but I am unsure. I also don’t understand the -23 sts part.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

You’ll Knit 1 stitch, then K2 tog. (you said you found the video, that’s great) then just keep knitting across until you have 3 stitches left.

You’re right. When you have 3 stitches on the left need, do your dec (K2tog) and knit the last stitch. [B] -23[/B] means you’ll now have 23 stitches. You were doing better than you realized.

the instructions want you to knit one stitch, then k2tog, continue across the row with all knit stitches until you get to the last 3 stitches on the lefthand needle. Now k2tog and then knit the last stitch. The 23sts is telling you the total number of sts you should have on the needle when you finish the row.
