For Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed? I’m already planning for the Weasley sweater I want to knit after I’m done with my christmas list. But the recommended yarn (see above) is kinda expensive and I’ll probably need a few skeins. Plus, its also 85% wool, and Im allergic to wool. So does anybody know of a less expensive alternative with minimal amounts of wool? I’m knitting it for myself, and I’d rather cut down on the itchyness.
Plymouth Encore is a nice acrylic/wool blend. 75/25. Very soft, lots of colors, reasonably priced, and machine washable.
But would the plymouth knit similar to the tweed?
The gauge is about the same, but I’m not sure if they have a tweedy color.
The gauge is all I’m worried about. I dont really like the speckles of odd colors in the tweed yarn, so Im sure I could probably find a nice blue that I like. Thanks, Ingrid.
