Discontinued yarn

Hello everyone,

I have a vintage pattern using Braeside chunky yarn, which seems to be discontinued. Wondering what a good substitute would be. Does anyone know anything about this yarn? It came in 100gm balls, but would be useful to know what it was made of and the yardage per 100gm.

Have you tried Yarnsub? It might be on there, sometimes Google comes up trumps otherwise. My mum has some discontinued yarns too. One google search led me to an informative eBay listing, also.
