I’m thinking of making a digital scrapbook of my knitting. I have an idea of doing sort of a journal of each project and putting in a few pictures of it. I’d like to print it eventually. Does anyone else do this? Anyone have any recommended sites or tips?
Thanks!
Kelly
I’ve thought of scrapbooking my knitting too. Right now, Ravelry does a good job… and the benefit is that you get Knitters who look at it and leave nice comments.
I’m worried about a RL scrapbook, digital or otherwise… generating the same kind of comments that a stash can/does generate from non-Knitters…
Mind you… I’ve started teaching DH well… I told him that his sock contained 20,000 sts… he goes around telling people his socks contain 20,000 sts and that gets a lot of attention one day I’ll point out that his pair of socks actually has over 40,000 sts…
I do digital scrapbooking, but not of my knitting. (It’s mostly my kids: Link to some of my layouts. :))
I use Adobe Photoshop Elements, but there are many good programs that you can use. I’ve printed my layouts both as single sheets and as books.
What kind of tips are you looking for?
I’ve done the whole paper scrapbooking thing. I’ve been doing it for a few years and I’m almost caught up with my kids. That’s my goal this year. I started out with Creative Memories and use mostly that stuff and crop at my consultant’s house monthly. I had always planned on doing my knitting book the old-fashioned way, but I just haven’t gotten around to starting it. I’ve been searching around and most sites that do the scrapbooking, you have to join to do anything in them. I do have a couple programs that I guess I could get started with to see if I can find what I need. I guess I was just looking for some ideas on how to get started or see some examples.
What I do is, I take pictures of what I knit and save them on my computer in my knit file but, Your idea is way cooler!
I did scrapbooking for 5 yrs before knitting. IF your looking for graphics, backgrnd, and everything else go to http://www.digiscrapdepot.com/freebies/date.aspx..they have 50,000 +
I get all the graphics from there THEN I use this $2.00 dig. sbking software CD (on amazon) to build the page. The CD doesn’t come with any graphics that are worth using, that’s why I go to that one website.
This is the name of the software found at amazon.com
"Ideasoft Scrapbooks Plus" by Nova Development (CD-ROM) (Windows 2000 / 98 / Me / XP)
I’m active on Kindred Creatiions, and they have a digital scrapbooking section with tutorials, free kits and basic instructions. Would something like that help you?

somebody nudge purlygirl. I think she does digital scrapbooking, too.
I digi-scrap! I haven’t scrapped my knitting. But I have some resources and examples on my digital scrap blog. I use Scrapbook Max! software right now (since it’s REALLY cheap!) It’s not as versatile or elaborate as Photoshop Elements or Photoshop - but it does what I need it to do right now (since I’m still kinda a newbie at it).
I use primarily FREE digital kits and elements. My fave free sites are:
Digital Scrapbooking Freebies
DigiFree
Ikea Goddess
There are oodles of blogs by great individual designers that offer freebies frequently (usually once a week or more). My advice is to go to DigiShopTalk or Scrapbook.com and get a feel for what designers offer freebies, layouts, and techniques.
OOPS! I called you by the wrong “handle”, but you are who I meant! Silly me!
Are you referring to moi? If so -it’s okay. I’ve been called alot worse!
I used to be a digiscrap addict! I was a designer and used CS2, PS, Elements and Painter.
Great to meet another digiscrapper in the knitting world
