Decreasing a sleeve on baby cardigan.

hi everyone. I’m a newby to the forum. I have been knitting for a wee while and love it. This is my first baby cardy. Our neighbour is expecting end of May. I can not get my head around what I should be doing when here. Please can you help? Maybe write it in an idiot way for me🤭

Many many thanks

Jenn

Welcome to KH!
It’s such a lovely gift for your neighbor’s new baby.
What is the name of your pattern and designer, and which size are you making?
You’re going to be shaping the raglan at the same time as the front edge of the sweater. Call the next row, row 1 and then decrease at the raglan edge on rows 1,5,9,13,17,21, and so on. At the same time decrease at the front edge on the 5th row following the last dec at the front. Let’s say that’s row 5 (for several of the sizes) after the last dec so that you would then dec on rows 5,10,15,20,25, etc.
Keep decreasing at each edge until you reach the given stitch number for your size.
Glad you’re enjoying knitting and working on what will be a much appreciated gift.

it’s an ancient pattern a neighbour lent me. The pattern is really pretty. I’ve done the back. I’m doing the biggest size as advised though I must admit I’m a little sad that a little newborn isn’t going to wear ot. They would look so sweet in it but it does make sense to have a size they will probably grow into very quickly😃

so sorry. I was so excited to get your reply I forgot to thank you:exploding_head:. Thank you so much. I had been checking my emails every hour:face_with_hand_over_mouth:. I have done my tick list. Guess what I’m doing this afternoon :yarn::yarn:

Beautifully knit. It’s darling to see those tiny cardigans but so much better to knit the larger size. The baby gets to wear it longer, and it’s seen and admired longer. Well done!
