DECEMBER What'cha Knitting?

@Jan_in_CA love the ornaments, and loooove the African flower animals, now I want to make one! They’re so well done! The owl, the pony, the stegosaurus…so darn cute…

@notknittingknots what beautiful projects! Love the yarn in the shawl, and both headbands. That double knit one came out beautifully–double knitting can be pretty tricky. Nice work! The other headband looks good to me too, not sure where the imperfections are that you speak of. I love these patterns you are finding. Great projects to give the granddaughters!

@salmonmac - that dinosaur cardigan is just adorable!! Thanks for sharing that, I’ve added it to my Rav library. Over the past year I’ve made things for three newborn babies… now I need ideas for things to make for first and second birthdays and that sweater is going to be it.

I came here to report that the patchwork blanket that has been testing my limits of patience and boredom lo these many weeks and months is nearly done! :joy: I felt like a robot knitting square after square after square, and in a fit of desperation one night last week after finishing yet another square of neutral color, I dumped all of them out on the bed and laid them out to see how many more I would need and … I had exactly enough - 40 squares. Five strips of eight squares. I’m seaming them into strips of eight, then will stitch the five strips together. I’ve seamed two strips so far. I’ve decided to forego adding an i-cord border. I’ve never done it before and I don’t want my first attempt to be on a gift. Hallelujah I will have this thing done by Christmas!

I have also finally been to a real yarn shop for the first time! My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner in the town where we first met (about an hour away from here) and he actually said to me: “Make sure we get there in enough time so you can go to the yarn shop.” THIS IS WHY I KEEP HIM. :heart_exclamation: Purchased a skein of alpaca sock yarn (my next project after The Blanket is finished will be learning to make socks) and a pretty green-tan variegated skein of 100% merino that was on the clearance shelf, with which I am making a cowl and headband. It’s a really good thing that I don’t live closer to that yarn shop or I would be bankrupt by now.

Miscellaneous - also working on finishing a blanket that’s been on my needles for months but kept going on the back burner as gift knits came up. Can’t wait to finish it now, it’s very soft and warm and it’s cold now.

Congrats on finishing up the multi-square blanket. Your delight comes right through in your post!
Love to see a photo before you give it away.

My friends thought I was nuts making a Santa hat for a ceramic duck, but he looks pretty cute! Ear flaps help hold it on.

No pattern…I made it up as I went a long. I have been making those little socks and so I tested one on his head. It was too small so I added 10 stitches and then just decreased santa hat like, added ear flaps and ties and a pompom. :santa:

Cute!

Thanks! He needed a festive look. I think I’ll make the other duck something, too. Maybe a scarf.

Santa Duck! He’s very festive.

I’m working on a dragon in Christmas colors. I just got one leg Kitchener stitched on. I still need to weave in ends. lol

That’s very cool, GG! Who’s the dragon for?

A new tradition, the Christmas dragon! Looking very neat so far.

They are beautiful Jan!

Gorgeous headband! I am new to and in love with double
Knitting. Can you share the pattern?

Beautiful job. I am convinced there is nothing you can’t do!

Thanks. The dragon is for my granddaughter. Grandson requested a knit cat. That surprised me.

Thank you x the pattern is a free download on Ravelry and is called Polaris Headband
by Andrea Krüß-Anders.

Thank you!

I’m furiously crocheting at the moment, have done another stocking and now knitting two snowmen with some lovely sparkly white yarn that came in the big second hand bundle I bought. Should have been done by now but last 2 days have been a bit of a write off thanks to my ***** dog! As soon as those 3 bits are done I can post my parcels off and then am not quite so frantic as rest of my items are going to be hand delivered, expect a frantic post from me on Christmas Eve!!

Good for you! Sounds like you had a lot to do!

I finished 10 little stockings which are now hanging on the tree. DH wants a red/white hat so I’ve just started that. It’s not a gift, but he wants to wear it so I’ll be working on that for the next …forever. I found some ornaments I want to make so I might have fun with that!

Total is:
2 hats
1 doorstop
1 fighter jet toy and
8 Christmas decorations.

It’s not much but I am such a slow knitter!

It all sounds like a lot to me. You and Jan are so productive!
