Crown of Bonnet

I am knitting Ladies bonnets on straight needles and pleased with the result but unfortunately although I shape the top I still end up with a pointed pixie top and not a nice rounded crown. This what I am doing………
Shape top of head - Divide stitches equally, place marker 29 sts each side
Row 1 RS knit to 3 sts before marker, k2tog, k1, slip marker, k1, ssk, Knit to end.
Row 2 knit
Row 3 rep Row 1
Row 4 repeat row 2
Row 5 rep Row 1
Row 6 rep row 2. Now put equal stitches on 2 needles for 3 needle bind off:
Any suggestions please?

What pattern are you using and who is the designer? Is the 3 ndl bo a seam down the back of the head? That would tend to produce a point.

Those directions should round off the top of the hood. You might try working them for another 2-4 rows before the bind off. Alternatively you could work rows 1-4 then work the decreases every row (skip the row 2 repeat) for a couple of rows.
There’s also a way of working the top of a hood with a panel along the top, similar to this one.
