Crocheting a chain border around knitting

Ok, so I taught myself how to crochet a chain. Now, I’m trying to figure out how to add a chain as a border around a knit item, an afghan in particular.

I just cant seem to get it right! If anyone knows of a video or pictures or could even explain it to me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

If you can chain, it’s not that hard to do it as a border.

When you have a loop on your crochet hook, when you reach for the yarn to pull through for the next loop? Well, when you just start to reach for that yarn… put your hook through the fabric first that you want to put your chain border along. Now hook the yarn and bring it back through your fabric and then through the loop on your crochet hook. Presto! One chain stitch along an edge. Adjust the length of your new stitch so that the edging part lies flat.

Repeat: Pass hook through edging material, catch yarn, bring yarn back through the material then through the loop on your crochet hook.

Not hard at all, right? And very nice looking!
