Crochet with knitting needles(circular or straight)

I have been able to knit with 1 knitting needle and 1 crochet hook. If I can knit with a crochet hook instead of a knitting needle or knook can I crochet with knitting needles instead of a crochet hook? I am wanting to know because I can’t find my momma’s crochet hooks to use.

Not that I know of. The hook is necessary to draw the yarn up through multiple yo’s.

Well could I try it and see if I can do a single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet with knitting needles? I can definitely do crochet hook movements with them and hold them the way I would a crochet hook.

Also I can do yarn overs because I learned how to knit lace so the yarn over won’t be a problem. The only problem I could have is the stitch slipping off the needle.

Also if I find out that it is possible to crochet with knitting needles than I can use knitting needles for both the knitting and crocheting part of a project that has both. That would be nice in case I want to crochet and not invest money in crochet hooks when I could possibly get too large or too small crochet hooks. I have much more knitting needles than my momma has crochet hooks.

There’s no knitting police so give it a try.
