Crochet steek

I’m working up the courage to try a fair-isle sweater, but since I like to “wrap my head around” a new technique, I’m feeling trepidatious about the STEEK. There are no videos that I can find, and I’ve found some tutorials, including Ingrid’s here, that are great, but… The crochet steek seems to suit me best. I learned to knit from Amy on this website, as you can tell from some of my first questions. Amy, will you please make a video showing a crochet steek for fair-isle? :eyebrow:

Eunny has a good series explaining steeks and I believe there’s an extensive sticky here

At the top of this page there is a sticky post with lots of info about steeking. See if that answers some of your questions.

ETA: I just realized you asked about “crochet” steeks. I don’t know if that post has info about that or not. I know Angelia recently did a sweater with crochet steeks so she may be able to help.

Yes, Eunny has a great article and pics on crocheted steeks.

Yes to Eunny! I followed her directions precisely and no unravelling! :happydance:

I used Eunny’s tutorial, too … after the fact … and after I had sorta picked apart one of my steeked stitches. :shifty:

Her tutorial is great, though! It should tell you everything need to know. It’s really pretty easy.

This blog has some great photos and info:
