I’m having an incredibly difficult time deciphering these directions, I took a photo to show you the directions and where I am in crocheting the piece. I believe I did RW1 & RW2 correctly, I just don’t under How to proceed after 4SC in row 3. For instance, what does “1SC on Ch” mean? I understand that “6CH” means but what is SK8 mean?
In short, I have no idea how to do rows 3& 4 in this pattern.
It mean you work the SC around the chain instead of into a SC stitch. Insert your hook into the space, pick up the yarn and draw it back through to make a loop. Hook the yarn again and complete your SC stitch. You are treating the chain apace as one large stitch.
SK8 means you skip the next 8 SC of the previous row.
That seems like odd phrasing for crochet instructions unless they have changed in 30 years.
Where does this “Apron” publication originate?
I most commonly recall this type of instruction being written as, “SC in the chain space” and why abbreviate skip as SK?
Welcome to Knitting Help.
Hello, and thanks for replying to my question. I bought the pattern on Etsy, it’s a pattern for a “Diana Barry” doll. The Diana character is Anne of Green Gables best friend.
So I wrote to the pattern designer, and I think she is in Spain. I haven’t heard back from her yet, but it is a Saturday night so I don’t think
I will hear from her before Monday.
Anyway, I’m so confused with these directions! I’m thankful to hear that ‘m not the only one!
#SC should be read as SC in the next # stitches.
