Crochet Edge on knit sweater- HELP!

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I am knitting this sweater:

And I REALLY want to add some sort of edging to the neck and maybe front of the sweater, i was thinking a crocheted picot or scalloped edge would look nice, but I have NO IDEA where to start.
Anyone have any advice or links to videos on how to do this?
Thanks so much!
Alison

What a darling little sweater that is! I’m not sure I’d add anything to it myself, but if you are looking for some ways to add crocheting to the edges of a knit item, I have a few videos and articles on my website that show how to do just that, only on baby blankets. The concept would be the same though.

If you click HERE, you’ll see all my posts on crochet borders. Have fun with it and I hope you find something helpful there. If not, just holler!

Yeah, I think it’s busy enough with the pattern and the crochet might be lost. Crochet would be beautiful on a stockinette sweater.

Thanks!
I mainly want to do it around the neckline b/c I hte the way it ways with just stockinette, kinda rolling out.

This is the sweater that used crochet edging that is my inspiration:

Let me know if you don’t have access to ravelry and i’ll ask about posting a borrowed pic from the knitter…

That little scalloped edge would be very cute on it even down the front.

I’d just do a round of single crochet around the neckline, then maybe a shell into the row of sc. What a cute sweater. Good Luck!

Now another dumb question, what size hook do you suggest I start with to add the single crochet around the edge, its a sport weight yarn. Thanks so much everyone!

This helps with hooks and needle sizes.

If you find it ripples a little after you start then go down a needle size, if it puckers go up one.
