Crochet Directions

Hi!
I am following this pattern and do not understand what it’s asking. Am I supposed to chain 1 and then double crochet in the same stitch?

Also, when it says to put 1 single crochet into stitch at base of chain 1 what does that mean? Do i do that all the way around?

Thank you for any help!

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
@GrumpyGramma @ZKOhio @ColoCro @OffJumpsJack
Would you take a look please?

I’d join the yarn and sc in the same stitch as the join. Following with two sc in the next stitches seems off since the rest of the round is (sc 2x, inc). What are you making? I see it’s in a book but sometimes the patterns are also available singly online.

It’s the Perisan Tiles Blanket by Janie Crow. I bought it from Mary Maxim as a kit.

Here is the picture from the pattern.

Beautiful!

That’s a spectacular blanket pattern!

Join the yarn by pulling it through the top of a dc, ch1, sc into that same stitch. “At base of chain” means to work into the stitch that the chain comes out of. This probably only happens at the beginnings of each round.

It’s not two sc in the next stitches, it’s sc in same stitch as join, sc in next, 2 sc in next, so it’s the same as the rest of the round–sc, sc, 2sc.

You’re correct. I read it wrong.

Thank you! That makes sense to me now!

I agree with ColoCro, some designers doesn’t count begining cs in pattern.
