Crochet cast on question

In my last post, I was asking how to make a prettier cast on. I found the video that I like and have been practicing. Tonight I started my project. I used the crochet cast on, using circular needles. When I got to the end I had a loop and didn’t know where to go from there. There is a slip knot loop at the end with this cast on method. What do I do at the end of the round when only a loop is there? I am going to start over so I want to get this right. ~Thanks

I’ve never used it for a regular cast on (only provisional), but I think you could just put it on the needle and count it as a stitch. If you have one two many stitches undo one and then put the remaining loop on the needles.

I did the crochet cast on with a straight needle so I could have more control. I cast on 56 stitches and after you replied, I went ahead and removed one stitch, put the loop on the needle, then knitted the row onto my cable needle. It looks okay so I’m good to go with a 56 stitch co on my circulars! Thanks! So glad this stuff gets a little bit easier with practice! And lots of advice from this forum! :relaxed:

Oh good! Glad it works for you!

BTW…the cat in your avatar is adorable! Looks a little like mine!

Thanks, Had to start over a couple of times…stupid mistakes! This is a new venture for me. I am making the neck warmer in the university colors for my daughter. Black and garnet stripes. Do you know of any good videos on changing yarn colors? I have to change colors every 4th row (if I calculated it right).

I’ve always thought our cats should get together, mine is a white and orange tabby named Jethro. Yours looks more like a gray tabby w/white. I also have a long haired female tortoise shell.

 My cat’s name is Bella. She is a ragdoll mix and it looks like the other part could be dilute calico. Can’t tell in the avatar, but she’s multicolor.

My goodness, she looks like she has the same attitude that my tortoise shell, Anabel, has! She is a diva and thinks she is a princess. What pretty blue eyes your Bella has. And I can see the dilute calico. I’ll see if I can find a good close up of mine.

I’m not sure I’d classify Bella as a diva, but you’re right she looks like one in this picture. :joy: She was found in bag by a dumpster with her brothers at 3 days old so she’s a bottle baby. Well, she’s 3 now and a big cat, but you know what I mean…she’s a lovebug.
