Crochet anirugami

Hello everyone,

I started crocheting a doll. The doll is meant to have curly hair but the hair strands do not look too curly at the moment. To make them, I make a chain of 10 stitches and sc from the second stitch from the hook. Is there something I might be missing? Or could I shape the hair at the end by wetting them slightly?

Thank you for your help and advice!

First search result. I think it will help.
Good luck with your project. We would like to see finished pictures :grinning:

What’s the name of your pattern, and the designer? So we can see what’s intended.

I would expect you need to sc2 in each chain, to get any curl, or 3 for corkscrew curls.

Thank you for all your answers. I tried with 2 sc in each chain yesterday but the curl is still not great (I have included a picture of my work). The pattern is from Reversible amirugami book and it is the reversible witch and cauldron.
I am using scheepjes Catona yarn and I am starting to think maybe it is too rigid…
Thank you for all your help and advice!

Does it not say how to do it in the book? You can take a photo of the page with instructions, or type a few lines (not the whole pattern due to copyright).

Is it this?

THESE curls are made by chaining 4 and then doing a sc into the head, Front Loop Only (FLO), so into the loops you have left from working BLO. You’ll do one for every stitch until you reach the top of the head.

I got that info from this video:

Hello, yes it is exactly this one, thank you so much! That’s very helpful

Cute! I think you’re right about your choice of yarn - cotton doesn’t have any elasticity/“spring” to it, which would likely help curls to look good. I do like the colour you chose, though!
