Counting Rows - How?

Hi! I’ve just started a new project after finishing my first one (a hat). It’s a scarf with two colours. It’s very long chunky colours of 52 rows of one colour and then switch.

My question (obviously) is how do I count the row?

I have 6 rows of the main colour to start and then (thanks to this website) switched to my secondary colour. I stop and start knitting a lot and have no idea how many rows I did.

Is there an easy way to count a row? Is there a tool that can help me?

Thanks!

Each ‘v’ of knit is a row, each bump of purl is a row.

There are many different kinds or row counters, in a wide range of prices and styles. My only caution is if you get one, get one that will slip on a wide range of needle sizes.
