I am making socks, (yes, i know i am crazy) the pattern reads. Work 6 rnds 1x1 ribbing ( I did that) then work in pattern st for 21 rds. Patterns is Rnd 1: K Rns 2 k3,p1. It doens’t look long enough. So question, do i really just count each row (21) or is a round actually two times around (42) because it reads rounds in pattern stitch.
I hope someone can understand my question.
Waiting for help.
Thanks :cheering: :cheering:
If it says rounds then it should be 21 rows, which would end with a knit row. If it meant repeat the pattern 21 times (for 42 rows) then it should say that.
:happydance: YAY for socks!! They are very addicting!!!
It wants you to work both rounds a total of 21 times…so you will have 42 rnds…
Great thing about socks is you can really make them your own…if you think the cuff is going to be to long or not long enough you can add to the pattern or shorten it… I usually never make my cuff the 6" most patterns call for…it hits to high on me… I usually go with 5"… you will find the more you do socks that you make each pair your own by changing to the heel that you have found to fit you best…to the cuff length you like the best…or the way you do the toes… :happydance:
When they say “knit in pattern for 21 rounds”, they mean for 21 rounds, NOT 42, even though the pattern takes up 2 rounds. Now, that doesn’t mean that they SHOULD have said 21 rounds:) . So if you want to double it, go for it. Just remember that if it’s a short cuff (it sounds like it’s meant to be-- is there a photo you can look at? Does 21 look like it corresponds to the photo?) and you make it longer, it will be tighter on your leg, since legs gradually get bigger as you go up from the ankle. Which means, don’t make the cuff too much longer, or if you do, you’ll want to start over again and cast on more stitches and then gradually decrease them as you get to where you end the cuff and the directions start you on the ankle and below.
Yeah-- knit long enough and you start to get just how many times what they said and what they meant are at polar opposites:rofl: . I know editing these things must be hard, but jeeeeez. . . One of my favorites was the pattern I had where EVERY time they said “knit”, they meant purl, and visa versa:oo: .
