Sorry - was trying to edit this but I messed up.

It’s probably best to pick up the ds, knit one more stitch (or even two more) then turn and make a ds. Stacking the double stitches is more noticeable than you would like.
Is this the end of the short row section or are there more short rows to follow?
Thanks for responding. (I accidentally deleted the content of my original question in trying to edit it - it’s been that kind of morning!) The reason I was asking was just what you pointed out - two double stitches together is too bulky. After this row, it is not an issue because there are additional stitches after the double stitch. But I think I figured it out. I should add the extra stitch before the double stitch and not after. Do you agree?
If you’re short rows turns are progressively longer it might be best to add the extra stitch after the ds from a previous turn. If the turns are short of the previous ds then add the extra stitch before the ds from the previous turn.
Assuming the turns aren’t very close together, an extra stitch here or there isn’t going to make a big difference. I’m sure I’ve los count of sts and misplaced turns without altering the look or fit of a sweather.

Sorry for not responding. I have actually put that pattern on hold since I found one I like better. But your suggestion was definitely the way to go. Thanks!
Sometimes the best idea is to take a break from a pattern or put it in permanent time out. Glad you found one that you like better.
