I found a very simple pattern for a V-neck vest. However it is for a thick thread ( tension 20 St) I would like to use a mercerized cotton, tension 24 st) Is there a way to convert the pattern ?
I have looked everywhere for a pattern that would go with this tension but no luck, and larger needles give a fishnet effect. Not nice.
Good advice would be welcome
Thanks
Do you mean 20 and 24 sts per 4"?
You could knit a larger size of the pattern. The 24 st gauge comes out to 6 sts/inch, multiply that times the measurement you need for the vest (36, 40 inches, whatever) and see if one of the sizes is close to that number of sts. Then follow those instructions, adjusting for length.
You can if you know what you’re doing, but I don’t think it’s all that simple. You might be able to just make a larger size and make it work. I’m not sure though.
This one is for a basic vest, but it does give you info for resizing it to fit various sizes so maybe that would work.

Here’s a pattern for DK weight yarn (yours) that might work.

Yesss!!! Thank you very much!
Both pattterns will help.
But the pattern from DK weight yarn, I will start right away.
What is DK weight yarn?
It is per 10cm or 4 inches of course
And your advice together with Jan’s advice will help tremedously.
Thanks very much
DK is a weight classification. You’ll see yarn weights a lot in the knitting community.
