Hey everyone,
I’ve recently taken up knitting because I’m bedridden in the hospital for a while…
I quite enjoy it, I’ve already made one scarf, and I’m trying to work on another one, but I keep having this problem. I’ll cast on long tail, and I’ll knit the first row, but when I flip my work around to knit the second, the first stitch I make (aka the stitch that was formerly the slip knot), makes two connecting strings instead of one…then if I keep knitting, it just becomes this mess of knots that I have to keep pulling to get the stitches over where they need to be below the loop…does that make sense?
I’ve uploaded a photo of the problem because it’s a little confusing to explain.
Please help!
Hi, Kathy. Sorry you are in the hospital, hope you get better soon.
About your problem. I don’t know. What is going on there exactly? You have cast on 5 stitches, you said with a long tail cast on. Is that the working yarn hanging down there? Where is the tail from the cast on? I don’t see one. Where exactly are you right where that picture was taken? Have you knit 2 stitches of row 2? There should be a tail from the long tail cast on hanging down at one end or the other. Did you catch it in somewhere?
I’m wondering, is it at all possible that the second strand of yarn in there could possible be the tail from the cast on? If so, I really wouldn’t worry about it. To me, it appears that you’re doing just fine.
