Confused with foll alt row

I know how to knit but not very good, I have bought Rowan Babies of Kim Hargreaves, and tried with " Relish" on page 50. It is lovely but I couldn’t get through. So I stopped for a month or so. After I found your Forum, I am courage. So, I redo everything again , but still…confused and can not continue. Could you explain the pattern to me please :crying:

I knit for my daughter size 3rd

1st, 2nd and 3rd

Dec 1 st at raglan armhole edge of 2nd and foll 1(4:7:-:-)alt rows and at same time dec 1 st at front slope edge of 4th (2nd:2nd:-:slight_smile: and foll 0(0:5:-:slight_smile: alt rows, then on every foll 0 (4th:4th:-:-:)row. 3(3:3:3:4) sts.

Does it means that I am supposed to ;
r 1 (WS) perl
r 2 (RS), dec 1 st at ragan armhole, dec 1 st at front slope edge 1 time
r 3 perl
r 4 knit
r 5 perl
r 6 knit
r 7 dec 1 st at front slope edge 1 time
r 8 knit
r 9 dec 1 st at raglan armhole edge
r 10
r 11 dec 1 st at front slope edge 1 time ( and from now on
decrease every 4th row until 3 sts remain)

I am not sure that my intepret is correct because the front parts are longer than the back.

Is there any different between “foll 2 alt rows” and “every foll 4th alt row” ?
I really don’t understand it, I think it is the basic, but I have nobody here to ask. I live in Germany. I am sorry to bother you with such a question, but I really love knitting and want to continue and hopefully would get better each project. so, please help me! Thanks.

You should decrease at the armhole on the next (row 2) and every other row 7 more times, so dec there on rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. 12, 14, 16.

You should decrease at the neck edge on row 2, then again on every other row for however many times it says for your size. There’s a smiley there so I don’t know how many.

When it says “4th” , it’s referring to decreasing on the 4th row for the first size. You’ll decrease on the second row and however many alternate rows.

Clear enough?

I see!. I intepreted it 7th row, instead of 7 times. No wonder why my front part is longer than the size. By the way, the smile face was mistake. I live in Germany and use German Keyboard, I didn’t see them until It wassent. Anyway, thank you very much for you quick reply. It is really great help
