Confused about Pattern I-cord bind off

Hello! Im binding off a large blanket of fishermans rib. See attached photo for written instructions. And a photo of the casting on edge Im trying to recreate for bind off. When I follow the instructions I end up with too many stitches on my right needle, it is not binding off in the right pattern. Help??

Hello

It looks to me like you have made a lovely icord edge, perhaps I’m not understanding the problem?

Where do you have too many stitches? Could you take a photo of the part where you have too many stitches?

What is the name of your pattern and publisher?

Welcome to the forum!
The cast on looks perfect. For the bind off, you’ll be working 3sts, binding off one stitch then passing the 4 knit sts on the right hand needle back to the left hand needle. There should be no sts on the right hand needle at this point.
As with the usual i-cord bind off, three sts keep being knit and then passed back to the left hand needle. In your pattern bind off:
(K3, slip one, k1, pass slipped stitch over) then slip 4 back to the left needle. One stitch is decreased for each repeat in parentheses.

So when I do the described K3 Sl1 K1 PSSO (now have 4 stitches on RH needle) then put three back to the LH needle I am left with one on the RH needle, so every time I do the pattern I leave an additional on my RH needle…

Ah ha so the pattern is incorrect, I DO move all 4 stitches to the LH needle not just 3 !! Yikes! Correct??

Move all 4sts back to the left hand needle. I guess the pattern wasn’t considering the knit one that was part of the decrease. It will be slipped then become bound off as the next psso when you work the next repeat.

You could let the designer know about the error and confusion.
