Cones of yarn

Could you use it to make a bag with?? I think the idea of a multi-purpose yarn for craft projects ( not neessarily wearable objects) is a great idea to have a big ol’ cone on hand for whenever you decide to get crafty~!!

You can also use it for childrens clothing and baby blankets. It softens up a lot the more it’s washed and dried. I made a sleevels top too, and it’s nice to wear.

Sue, thanks for telling me it softens up with washing! I’m actually making a shawl with it right now (because I’m a new knitter and figured practicing on cheap yarn is a good idea) so it’s nice to know it won’t always be so rough!

It may stretch out a little while wearing, my top does (and its sleeveless d’oh!), but washing it puts it back in shape.

I saw a cone of yarn yesterday but I didn’t take a closer look because I wasn’t sure if it was ok for hand knitting :oops: Ah well! :doh:

Halcyon Yarn has some yarns on cones;

Usually they are 1 lb cones so you are getting a good bit of yarn. Another nice thing is you don’t have to keep joining. Some of the Brown Sheep yarns come on cones also.

I ordered BFL and Treliske on cones from coop so I got a good deal. I was toying with skeining my own so I could dye my own colorways.

Now my friend wants a sweater and pants for her little boy and the organic cotton was just way pricey by the skein to get the yardage needed so when I found it in “bulk” on cones I thought what a great deal! It is going to save here about $30.00

I got some big cones from a great ebay store :)… Lambs Pride…

cones… makes me think of pauly shore :teehee:
