Hi,
I am knitting this Christmas jumper for my little girl in the second size. The thing is I have 65 stitches and I cannot for the life of me work out how this can total back to 65 stitches for the second size? Any suggestions? The pattern is below.
Any and all help or suggestions appreciated.

For the second size K1M, (k7cc, k1M) 8 times total where M is the main color and cc is the contrast color. That should give you 1+(8x8)=65.

of course! There is no first size so the second size becomes the one outside the bracket. It made perfect sense the minute I read your response.
