hi Jessica, maybe this will help. If you notice the colors change on one side of your dishcloth. You just work back and forth in one color then drop that color and pick up the other one. row 1 and 2 MC, then drop MC and pick up CC for row 3 and 4. Hope this helps. Ellie
It sorta makes sense but wouldn’t there be a line of color over a couple of rows where I carry the yarn to that row? Also I have seen, from posts on here, that the best way to start a new color is to simply start knitting with that new color and leave a tail to be weaved in later. Is that correct?
The color changes in the pattern are caused by slipping stitches rather than carrying yarn across the back. You will have to bring the yarn up on the side, but that won’t be a big deal.
You’re only working with one color on each row, slipping stitches of the other color.
The MC is your background color, the CC is whatever other color you want to use. So when the row starts with "using MC or CC, that’s the strand you knit with. The other one will be hanging at the beginning of the row, waiting it’s turn.
