Hi all. I’m sure for some of you this may be a no brainer question, but here goes. I am going to knit a sweater (top down v-neck cardi) that has a collar, but I don’t want to knit the collar. Is there anything I need to do to the neck edge to adjust for not adding the collar? Thanks for your help!
Welcome to the forum!
It depends on how the neck is finished before the collar is added and the look that you would like. It might take simply a single crochet edge to even out the neckline and stabilize the edge or you might want a rolled edge or ribbing.
What pattern are you making?
Thanks for the input. It’s the Knitting Pure and Simple Easy Lace Cardigan 1307. A local yarn shop that has since closed had it in their newsletter without the collar, and it was very attractive. The owner had told me she had modified the neckline, but didn’t go into detail. It looks like from the picture that she didn’t add the collar and it is now has a v-neckline. Thanks again.
Ah, lovely. It looks like the buttonband extends up and around the neck. That’s enough to complete the sweater without the collar.
I think you’re absolutely right. I have the picture from her newsletter that I attempted to attach for you, but it was too big - that being said, I zoomed in on it and that’s exactly what it shows. Thanks again for you input. I really appreciate it.
