ok, so I have some bamboo circs and I do like them, but…
They don’t seem to slide well where the cord meets the needle. Are all wood/ circ needles like this? Is there anything I can do to help them slide more?
PS I am getting a pointer finger blister from pulling up the stitches
I am not sure but try a bit of bees wax. It might help. For finger pointer blister a band aid but after that try a leather thimble that is used in quilting.
Maybe you knit tight? The sts should move easily from the cord to the needle with only an occasional snag on the join. I have the same size clovers and don’t have a problem with them.
Experiment with different methods of holding your yarn; videos on Youtube show dozens of different people knitting and one of their methods may work. If you’re in the habit of pulling on the yarn after you’ve made a stitch, stop. Making the next st tightens up the previous one.
I second Ginny’s comment. However, I have one set of Bamboo circs that is just the 9" cable, which I use as needed. I couldn’t get the really short cable except in bamboo.
Try putting talc on your hands and rub them together and rub the talc on the cord and needle. I haven’t done that myself but I had seen some-one doing it and it helped the sts.
Vertigo- Yep I am really an english knitter but I got tired of always throwing the yarn, so that is why I knit stitch in continental now, speeds things up!
Suzeeq- No I don’t pull on the yarn after a stitch in continental, but I am not sure if the yarns is moving loosely enough on my pinky, so i will check out the holding tip! Thanks!
Ginny- Yeah i am finding that it does stick at the join, do you find it is only with your bamboos? or is this a problem with all your circs?
Motherpink- I have never heard of that! mmm…I will have to mull that one over
Mathwizard- So I took some wax paper to my needles and it help the needles but the join is still catching the yarn
Well I have my answer to this question! My sis in law gave me a set of metal needles which have a softer cable and it doesn’t stick at the join!!! I also think that maybe I am knitting a bit tight which makes it a little bit harder…but yeah at least I now know and I can work to improve my tension and maybe not use bamboo for everything! Thanks for all the help everyone!
