one of my favorite teachers from school celebrated her birthday a few weeks ago (i know, i am always late) and i decided to make this for her
I would have finished it MUCH sooner but i couldnt find yellow wool ANYWHERE within 50 miles, So I just got some plain wool Galway and some lemonade koolaid (and a tiny bit of orange). (her favorite color is yellow)
The bag was going to be completely different, I was going to use my big bamboo handles for this bag, but my mom saw the Michael’s cabled bag pattern (the one with the bamboo handles and the ribbon) and she NEEDS it for christmas. So, no bamboo handles.
I am much happier though without the bamboo handles, I had to think of something completely different (I made up this pattern as I went) and then i decided to crochet some flowers and vines onto the bag. Each side of the bag has its own flower. I was initially going to embroider them on, but I thought crochet would add stability to the handle and felt better too. The flowers are made with Lion Wool, not galway like most of the bag.
I then dyed the entire bag (with the flowers on) and felted it
I am not entirely sure if I like it or not (it is not something I would normally make), but my mom loves it and I hope my teacher likes it too.
