Clarification of pattern needed

I am making the back of a simple vest. I am at the shoulder/neck shaping spot.

Pattern says: slip 1, k 11, turn. Work these 12 stitches until armhole measures 9". Bind off.

Ok, got the 1st row, however, (and I am working in garter st) do I just knit these rows in garter st or do I still do the slip 1 thing on each row?

What’s your pattern, can you give us a link? If you’ve working in gs then you probably continue in gs unless the pattern specifies something else. If you’ve been slipping the first st then probably you would continue slipping the first st. Without seeing the pattern it’s hard to tell exactly what you should do, at least for me.

Yes, a pattern link or pattern name is always helpful. Certainly continue the slip stitch at the armhole edge for a neater looking edge on the vest. At the neck edge you can slip the stitch which may make it easier to pick up sts for a color or neck band or you can just knit the neck edge stitch.

NOTES:

  1. When working in Garter St, slip the first st of each row for a smooth edge.
  2. For ease in working, circle numbers that pertain to your size.

Shoulder and neck shaping:
Next row (RS) Slip 1, k 9 (10, 11, 12, 12, 13), turn. Work these 10 (11, 12, 13, 13, 14) sts until armhole measures 8 (8½, 9, 9½, 10, 10½)". Bind off. Join 2nd ball of yarn and bind off center 18 (18, 20, 20, 22, 22) sts, k to end. Work on last 10 (11, 12, 13, 13, 14) sts to match other side. Bind off.

Since there is no collar or finishing on the neck edge, it would be neater to slip the first stitch when you’re at the neck edge in addition to slipping the firts stitch on the armhole edge.
(Would you please edit your last post to remove most of the pattern instructions? Just the Back section is enough and that way we won’t have copyright problems.)
