Circular Needles

Ok, I’ve never tried using circular needles and this question has probably been asked a thousand times, so send me to the naughty step if need be!

I’m gonna have a go at knitting a hat, the circumference of my head is approx 56cm/22inches. The circular needles I have are 60cm/23.5inches… will these be ok? I also don’t have the correct sized needles, they are a size bigger than the pattern asks for… Oh, I’m such a n00b :??

Thanks in advance for your help!

You probably will run into problems. If you manage to fit the stitches all the way around, they will be extremely tight and hard to slide around the needle. I usually use a 16" needle for an adult hat. It’s better to have the stitches squished on the needle than stretched out.

There’s also the consideration that as the hat gets smaller on the top, you need to either switch to dpns or the two circ or magic loop method.
