Circular needle newbie...please help!

So I thought it was about time I gave circular needles a try, but I have no idea what I’m doing! The pattern says:

Using circular needle, CO 144 sts. Place marker and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist.

What does it mean when it says to “join”?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I just did my first circular project too. The whole “joining” this was kind of a non-event. Basically once you have your stitches cast on and you’re ready to start, you want your working yarn to be on your right needle, so as you knit the first stitch off the left needle, the fact that the working yarn is on the right joins the two. It’s waaaaay less complicated than it sounds. It’ll make sense once you start doing it.

:XX:

I had the same question to with my first circ project. Hereis a thread discussing the join and how to make it look neat, etc.

It’s really easy and I    circs now!

Good luck

Here’s a picture from my sock tutorial showing how to join a round. This is on DPNs, but it’s the same for circular needles…minus the extra needles.

Thanks for all the info, everyone! As always, you guys are a big help!
