Circular knitting w/two different yarns

Hi everyone

My current project is a scarf using 2 different yarns and switching needle size. After completing the first part, the pattern wants me to slide the sts back to the other end, pick up the other yarn, carry it up the side, and with another size needle, knit. What does this mean? (especially the part about carrying it up the side) Hope someone knows. Thanks for any help at all!

Carrying the yarn means that you won’t cut it, but move it up to the next row you’ll be knitting with it. Twisting it loosely around the other yarn strand keeps it from being loose.

I think I get it! Thanks for your help.
