Circular knitting questions revealed!

Greetings,

I’m knee deep in holiday knitting–still (work and school will do that to you, I suppose). I’m trying to get it finished up, and have decided to knit this lovely cowl courtesy of http://lilibethsgarden.wordpress.com/2009/11/17/chunky-lacy-cowl-pattern-free/. However, I’m having a bit of trouble. The pattern specifies using a size 13 18" circular needle to knit the cowl. Alas, I was unable to find a circular needle that was 18 inches long in any of my local craft stores (Joann’s, Michael’s, and Hobby Lobby), nor do I have an LYS near my home. So, I decided to buy a 16" one as the pattern states “18 in. or there abouts.” I was wondering if I cast on more stitches than needed in the original pattern if it would still be the same circumference as the cowl knitted with the 18" circular needle.

Thanks!

You don’t need to cast on any more stitches. I think it said 55, they will just be a bit closer together on your 16" than they would be on an 18" (I’ve never seen an 18"). You got the size 13 needle right? Just cast on and follow the pattern.

Thank you so much!
