Hi everyone, I am knitting a cardigan in chunky wool for my grandson which has a shawl collar. The result of the decrease is a wavy edge using the method where you don’t knit the last stitch of the previous row and slip the second stitch over the first at the beginning of the next row which is supposed to prevent the step effect. Is there any other way I can produce a smooth finish whilst using chunky wool ? Thank you.
This video shows the sloped bind off with chunky yarn. It should give a smooth edge but if there is a bit of waviness, washing and blocking may even that out.
Maybe working the last few rows with a larger needle will help loosen up the sts in case the tightness of the sts is making this bind off wave?
Thank you once again or your advice, I had watched this video just before your message came through, knitting the bind off on a shoulder section to try it out!!! I shall now undo the shawl bind off and try again to improve the finish. Thank you, your advice is always appreciated.
