i am looking for a nice pattern for a poncho or sweater for my sister. she is eight years old, almost nine and a little big for her age about size 12 or 14. anyways, i am looking for something that looks nice, will keep her warm, and will fit her. it doesn’t matter how complex it is- i think i can do it, i just don’t want something super simple. thanks!
Have you looked thru the patterns here: http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/
or at lionbrand.com
Both sites have lots of free patterns.
My sis is same size… I’m making her one, but I’m just making up the pattern. I know about how long I want it, and I know about how long her arms are, so I measure down the length of her arm, and that will be the width. Then I multiply that by 2, and add 1". That is your length.
If I’m not making sense, let me know and I’ll try to explain it better. :teehee:
What I like about the “pattern” I use, is that you can get a custom fit, and you can get a really neat pattern. You could do anything with it since it’s so simple… I almost did interlocking cables on the one I am working on, but I was (and still am) in a time crunch, and I figured stockinette would take me long enough.
