Anyway, I’m thinking about making a throw with chenile yarn using #13 circs. Problem is, I’ve never used chenile yarn, and I’m wondering if someone out there is familiar enough with it to let me know if it’s easy to work with. Thanks in advance…

it goes both ways… easy to knit up, mothertrucker to frog. I have 5 skeins of chenille thick and quick here that i’m trying to find the “perfect” pattern for as i have no desire to frog it.
Yep…and the Lion Brand is NOT washable…so choose your projects carefully:sad:
I made a beautiful afghan for the family room with it and at this very moment, as I look at the milk, pop, jello, cheeto stained beautiful afghan, I wonder what was I thinking!:waah:

I knitted with it once. VERY soft chenille and looks luxurious. I compared it with Lion Brand Chenille at a store and Bohemian is much softer to the skin. Sheds a bit like most chenille yarns but not too bad at all.
Good to know it’s easy to work with. It is different than anything I’ve ever used. BTW, having trouble getting into the site. Hubby having trouble too on his computer.

Knits up easily, and I didn’t have too much trouble with frogging (maybe be cause I have SO much experience at it), but it did shed like crazy.
lion brand being “hand wash only” is a HUGE part of the problem i’m having. the ones that i know that DON’T have kids have dogs… the lord and lady of the tribe and 2 others that i’m pretty close to each have 2 great danes, my adoptive mom has 3 pomeranians (Yogi, Pepsi, and Nepo), 1 teacup poodle (spike… which is funny because she has a pink studded collar with her name on it and bows in her ears, thinks she’s the biggest dog on her block), and a standard Poodle (Steinway). Her son also lives with her and has a chocolate Lab (forget the dog’s name)… the others have kids (toddler to infant ages) and I know it wouldn’t be appreciated because of the amount of care required.
Well, I am sorry to say I woudn’t recomend Lion Brand Thick and Quick Chenille. Once I bought a few skeins because I loved the super soft feel of the yarn and ended up kniting a scarf. The stiches did not keep their shape. In fact several of them unravel after the scarf was done. After using the scarf a few times, there are some bald spots here and there… and I decide to return the rest of the skeins to the store. I was very dissaponted. OK, I still have that scarf, it is still my softest scarf, but also my baldest one.
All this is just IMHO. Later I found out that they only recomend that yarn for crocheting. Weird, because they have a couple of knitting patterns using this yarn.:shrug:
Yes… kids and pets in the house with a chenille throw? Not a real good combination is it.
Thanks for your reply. Glad you got a refund on the yarn! Based on everyone’s collective opinion, I’m starting to re-think making a throw. The pattern takes 10 skeins of chenille… a lot of money down the drain if it’s not right. Probably would be better to start out with a smaller project just to see what I’m dealing with, and then go from there. That way if it doesn’t work out at least I won’t have that much $ into it and if turns out really really bad, I’ll pass it down to my cats. Nothing goes to waste around here.
