Chappell Hill Neckwarmer (Martha Wissing Designs) Stitches Count

The pattern looks very simple and is knitted on 4 rows. I am unable to reach the correct number of stitches at the end of the fourth row when I repeat the pattern. One stitch is always missing. I would like to understand what I am doing wrong. Thank you for having read me.

Is it only row 4 where the stitch count goes off?

Can you type out the row please?

Thank you for your reply.

Cast on: 25 stitches (long tail cast on). There are six stitches increased through the four rows. Repetition of the four rows until 109 stitches on the needle.

“Row 3: INC: K1, k3, insert point of left hand needle from left to right into the first of these 3 knit stitches and lift it over the other 2 knit stitches, YO; rep. from * to last 3 sts, k2, YO twice, k1 - 2 sts inc’d.

Row 4: INC: K1, M1, knit into the first YO and purl the second YO, knit to end - 1st inc’d. “

So, you have the correct number of stitches after Row 3, but not after Row 4?

Maybe put a stitch marker at the end of Row 3, before the last 3 stitches, to be sure you end the row with 5 stitches on your needle once you’ve done the 2 yarn overs. At the beginning of Row 4, you’ll increase one with the Make 1 and have 6 stitches outside the marker.

ColoCro, Thank you for your suggestion. I will use markers as you indicate - it may help. Maybe the two YO at the end of Row 3 are the source of the confusion: first YO being knitted in Row 4 and second YO being purled. Nevertheless, I will try again.

Check over the repeat sts too just to rule out a random missing yarn over from the repeat.

What kind of M1 are you using? Is it easy to pick up the strand between sts after the double yarn over is knit and purled?

Salmonmac: Tada! There was one yarn over missing in my third row each time I knitted the 4-row sequence.I read the instructions erroneously and I found out why. Thank you so much for your help! Take care!

Oh good! Glad you found the problem. It’s such a pretty stitch pattern, and now you can enjoy knitting it.

Yes, ColoCro. And my omission took place at the end of the 3rd row, which in some way mirrors the first row. There is a YO to be knitted before the last 3 stitches of the 3rdrow. Thank you also for your help.
