I am a fairly new knitter and found this easy but beautiful scarf to make. I don’t quite understand this yarn changing technique Looked for a You tube with no luck.
Changing colours: No cutting! When it is time to change yarn colours, just drop the yarn you are working with and pick up the other colour. Always pick up the other colour from underneath the yarn you just dropped. In this way you will carry the yarns up the side of your work and won’t have any extra tails to weave in at the end (which is a good thing, because this piece is pretty airy and any extra weaving will be pretty obvious).
You’re just going to leave the yarn not in use hanging, but bring the yarn that is in use under it so it gets ‘pinned’ to the work when you get to that edge.
so I can CO with brown lets say then knit with brown and leave the yarn and attach the white and leave the white at the end…but won’t the brown be at the other opposite end ? sorry just confused a bit!
You’re probably going to knit 2 rows with each color so you always change at the same edge. Loosely twist the yarns around each other when you change them, just once, and they’ll be out of the way.
Every other row would be knitting two rows with one color. Each time you get to the side with the dropped color you drop the color you were just using and bring the new color under and start knitting. Repeat. I did that on this scarf and it works fine.
