Caron Simply Soft yarn

Hello,
I am new to this blog and I need help! I have been knitting for a few years, I taught myself and I love it. I decided to make blankets this year and I have given them to my grandchildren and my son. I used Caron Simply soft yarn and size 15 needles. The blankets are beautiful BUT… my son just told me today that his has a hole in it. He is not sure how this happened but thinks maybe a toe went through it. What did I do wrong? Maybe a smaller size needle? I love the yarn it is so soft and I use two strands when I made the blanket. He said one of my granddaughters blanket has a small hole too… HELP!!! Thank you!!

15 sounds a little too big even for double stranded simply soft. I normally use a 7 for single stranding so I’d think maybe a 9-10 would make the fabric sturdier. If you’re a super tight knitter then maybe 11. Do a swatch to see how the fabric feels and looks. Everyone knits differently.

I used two strands of yarn. So even though it looked so beautiful I should of used a smaller needle… oh boy… thank you so much for your advice. Back to knitting!!

Also, with that loose of a gauge it is possible that “woven in ends” came out as well, creating the hole.
