Caron - Anything similar in UK?

Hi

I’ve recently been sent some seriously silky and scrumptious Caron Solids yarn by Julie (Momwolf) and have been wondering if there’s anything similar to this in the UK.

Honestly, I’ve never come across anything so smooth and soft - it’s brilliant for knitting baby hats and other items.

Caron do ship overseas but I found their postal prices a bit steep - $11 to send 6oz - :passedout: yes, well, hmm - think twice about that one. I think the US postal rate is about $7 for 8oz weight (does seem weird using ounces now) about 220 grams.

I’m very lucky having Julie to send me Caron yarn but have only come across Caron felted wool in the UK.

Does anyone have any info. on this, please? - meantime, here’s photos of samples Julie made up for me, so that I’ll have a better idea of actual colours if I want some more. Don’t know how long it took her to do this but it’s much appreciated!

Maybe if anyone else wants Caron yarn, we could do worse than ask Julie, nicely, if she’ll send some. Bribing her with a Terry’s Chocolate Orange works wonders:teehee:

There’s a link here to the Caron website

There are other places to buy Caron online than their shop which may be less for the yarn, though I don’t know about shipping to the UK. Have you looked at ebay? Sometimes they may ship overseas or ebay.uk may have some.

Did I hear someone say Terry’s chocolate orange?
Hey we could start a small import, export business. What I won’t do for chocolate:thud:

Hi Suzeeq

Yeah, I did give ebay uk a whirl and there were about three items of Caron yarn listed - all of them in the US.

I think one of them had slightly cheaper postal charges than Caron - problem for us Brits is that the yarn is so lovely and inexpensive that it has us jumping up and down but then we come down to earth with a thud when we take postage charges into consideration …

Hmm - wonder if Tesco’s have any Terry’s Chocolate Oranges left - I cleaned out our local ASDA … where’s Julie?
