Can I fix this?

I don’t know what I did, can I fix this?
I’ve seen/fixed a few dropped stitches before but is this one fixable or did I mess up my blanket beyond repair? I thought if it was a dropped stitch that the rows above/below would be undone as well.

Edit: I made another boo boo again, I was purling in a new ball of yarn and I seemed to have left a hole in my blanket. Is there anyway to fix that? I thought I followed the video perfectly, I suppose I didn’t.[/COLOR]

It looks like you dropped or slipped a st but knit it on a following row and yes you can fix it. Work till you’re at the st over the loop, drop the st down, pull the loop through to make a stitch, then bring up the other sts you dropped to get to it. If you go to the Tips page, under Fixing Mistakes there are videos for bringing up dropped sts.

Ah! I love you.

I always have a crochet hook in my bag for fixing such errors. Glad you fixed it.

How were you joining the ends? If they’re loose, tie them together. Or did you end up with a YO when you started working on it? If you have a picture, that could help. You may have to take it back to where you joined and there’s some ideas on the Tips page for how to join the ends.

I went in to the next stitch as to purl it, then added in the new yarn and purled. I made a boo boo and didn’t put my old yarn under the new yarn and I left a hole in the blanket.

So you have loose ends at the hole? Knot them together.

Okay, I’m knotting them now. Thank you.

My knitting book says to undo the knot later and weave in the loose ends, but if I do that, the hole will show again.

It won’t make a hole if you have long enough ends to weave in. I don’t do that, I just reposition the knot so it’s on the WS and also weave in the ends to secure it from moving around.

Well, I left about a 4 inch tail, so I should be able to weave it in nicely. Thank you for the help, this is my first time knitting anything, it’s suppposed to be for my boyfriend and I don’t want to mess it all up. I’m going on vacation soon to meet his parents and his mother knits.

Don’t be afraid to ask her for help if you need it. It’s a lot easier to see something in person and see what needs to be done immediately.

If the hole doesn’t show when you knot the ends, just cross the two yarn ends over each other so that the hole doesn’t show and weave in the ends. This works perfectly fine when you are changing colors. When I’m adding in a new ball of yarn I knit or purl one or two sts with both strands, drop the old strand and continue on with the new. On the next row, remember work the two strands as one st and you’ll never notice the join. There’s also a video under the Free Videos tab at the top of this page, Tips, Joining new yarn, that may help in the future.
