I am substituting 2 strands of worsted for 1 strand of bulky. I found a site which explains how to calculate how many yards of worsted I would need vs the bulky amount but I do not understand the explanation. By chance, would anyone have a “simple” formula for just a general estimate regarding this?

You would need twice as much worsted as bulky since you’re doubling the yarn.
I’m not aware of a formula for calculating yardage when substituting, only a chart that estimates how much yardage for items with a single strand of yarn…

I knew that I would need twice as much worsted but I read that the gauge would differ knitting the two strands vs. the one strand of bulky. I didn’t think that it would make “that” much difference, would it?
The gauge might be about the same as the bulky, that’s what you should aim for.
