But the pattern said to do a single crochet edge around the armholes and the neck. I did do it around one armhole and it made the armhole stick out kind of funny and stiff. Is there a secret about this that I don’t know about? It is the first time I have done a crochted edge…I tried on the vest and I really liked the armhole without the edging, although it seems like I should do something around the edge, I don’t know. It rolls in, but it doesn’t look bad on, the armholes are pretty large anyway.
Try the reverse single crocheted edge, commonly called the “crab stitch”. It makes an excellent edging on knitted items. It doesn’t look crochet-y or granny.
