I’m looking for a pattern, free or otherwise, for a cabled baby blanket or afghan. I’d like it to be pretty much all cables all the way across with a border, and I’d like to do it in maybe a chenille yarn or a yarn with a little more texture than just plain worsted weight.
If anybody knows where I might find such a pattern, I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance.
Jessica, the sweater I’m doing is cabled all the way across with three different cables. If you like any of the cables I bet you could just put them together however you want. Here’s the pattern: http://www.interweaveknits.com/freepatterns/pdf/WelcomeBack.pdf
I would suggest as Abbily suggested - find several cables you like and combine them all. Get one of the cable stitch guide books (either Stitionary 2 I think is the cable guide, or the newer Harmony cable & arans - check them out of your local library).
Not so sure about using chenille yarn, though. Doesn’t Lion Brand recommend not knitting with their lion chenille?
There is a beautiful traditional cabled blanket in Debbie Bliss Simply Baby. You could get it from your library if you don’t want to buy it.
I took a screenshot of it.
