I’m working on the tulip border at the moment, and have decided to knit it into the blanket edges instead of knitting it, then sewing it to the blanket. It’s working out well, but I’m getting to the end, and I’m wondering how to attach the last iteration of the pattern to the beginning of the first one to make the border look seamless. Any ideas?
I made the large version of this throw although I made the border separately and then attached it. I started the border with a provisional cast-on and so it was easy to join the last tulip to the first. You could just bind off and use a mattress st to join the edges. Or you could carefully unpick the border part of the cast on (secure the rest of the cast on if that applies), creating live sts which you could graft to the live sts of the final tulip. Both mattress st and grafting or Kitchner st are demonstrated in the videos at the top of this page. The baby blanket version looks like a great project!
