BO in k1, p1

Its a real dumb question but I’d thought I’d ask. I haven’t really tried BO in rib yet {make my Mom do it for me!}. So I k1, p1 pass the k1 over. Okay. Now does it matter if I leave the yarn in front or move it to the back? I didn’t think it would but it looks wrong when I BO. I move the yarn before slipping. Maybe I just don’t know what looks right. I just finished my very first sweater vest :happydance: And my mom did the Rib BO for me. Now she isn’t here and I need to BO this sweater vest.

You knit the knits and purl the purls as you always do. I find, though, that when I bind off in ribbing that it seems easier for me to put the yarn to the back when I pass the stitch over, and then bring it forward again if the next stitch is a purl.

I did it. And it really has no effect on the outcome where the yarn is sitting when I slip it over. Just looked strange everytime I did it. The other vest it has sort of a zig zag apperance to it. Maybe because it is bigger and is k2 p2 instead! And it does have a slight zig zag to it. Such a nervous nelly. Always think I must be doing something wrong. Anyway, the vest is all done. Now I can start on the snow man sweater. Yay! I get to try intarsia! Thanx.
