Blanket pattern from super chunky to Aran/worsted weight yarn Please

Hi

I’ve found the following 2 row pattern blanket pattern in chunky yarn sz 8 mm knitting needles

I want to change the chunky yarn to either uk Aran or dk would knit a swatch to see which I like

I appreciate I will have to do some maths :woman_facepalming:

Can anyone help me though please as a novice knitter is the pattern below multiple of 12 + 2 ?

The centre decrease is worked over 3 sts

Center Dec = (worked over 3 sts).

Slip next 2 stitches as if to K2tog,

K1, then pass slipped sts over

knit stitch

Cast on 123

1st row: (RS). K1. ssk. K9. *Center

dec. K9. Rep from * to last 3 sts.

K2tog. K1.

2nd row: K1. *P1. K4. (K1. yo. K1) in

next st. K4. Rep from * to last 2 sts.

P1. K1.

Last 2 rows form pat.

Thank you in anticipation of your time and any help guidance would be so much appreciated

Eileen

What is the name of your pattern and designer?

You’re on the right track with the swatch in your yarn. Once you know the sts/inch or sts/10cm and the size of the blanket that you would like to make you can calculate the number of sts to cast on. That number can be adjusted to the given multiple of 12 +2.

Be sure to make a large enough swatch so that you can measure over the middle 4 inches or 10cm.

Bernat® Blanket Perfect Phasing appears to be the name of the yarn. What is the name of the pattern? If you found it on the Yarnspirations site perhaps you would post the link.

Before you start a pattern is the time to over think and second guess. Your’re dong the right thing here. Hope you find fabulous yarn for your blanket!

Thank you

I’m going to try and buy individual yarns not the ombré yarn.

Think it might help the project to not become another work in progress

Ps I got the work in progress WIP comment of the internet :joy::joy:

Thank you

There are so many free patterns being sold on etsy. It’s good to check elsewhere.

Thank you salmonmac, very nice blanket and now on my list to do

I didn’t know we could share patterns if that makes sense silly me

Eileen

You’ll have to let us know what yarn you use and if my thoughts on individual balls of yarn is a good idea.

Just when I review ombré yarn all you talented ppl seem to do some special trick to keep the colour pattern straight and visually correct.

There I go again overthinking

Eileen

I think working this in seperate colours will be easier to control to get the effect on the picture, it’s a good choice.
Usually we can share a link to where the pattern can be bought or found if it’s free, this doesn’t go against copyright and takes traffic to the designer or pattern site meaning possibly more sales so it’s not a bad thing.
When needing help on the wording of a pattern Usually just post a line or two, just enough to get help rather than large portions.

Have you chosen colours yet?

All good things to consider. The benefit of the Bernat striped yarn is that you will have fewer ends to weave in from the different colors. The color change with this yarn might occur mid row but that won’t detract and the overall effect will be of the gradient.
