Blanket Edge - knit in the round?

Hi. I have knit a couple of baby blankets before, but I have never added the edging. I am using a circular needle and now I am wondering if I knit the blanket edging in the round. Meaning…do I need to just keep knitting around and around keeping track of my rows or do I go back and forth somehow. I have picked up the stitches all the way around the blanket at this point.

Also, I have not counted the stitches and I am doing broken rib. Do I need to count the stitches and make sure I have the right number before I start.

Finally, the pattern calls for increasing a stitch before and after each marker on the corners. Will this affect my broken rib pattern.

(K1, P1 on row 1 then K on row 2) Repeat for 2 inch border.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can pick up sts along all 4 sides and knit around. When you do the 2nd/4th, etc rows you’ll purl instead of knit, and you may need to inc sts at the corners so they lay flat.

Personally - I like to crochet my edges…with square corners…

Good luck! Sarah
