Bind off in pattern

My brain is fried and I’m not thinking well at the moment. :zombie: When you are told by a pattern to ‘bind off in pattern’ are they limiting that to the type of stitch in the pattern (knit vs purl) or does that include things such as cables? For example, you are supposed to bind off on a right side row. All of my right side rows are cable rows. So if I am binding off in pattern, do I need to be working the cables too?

Thanks,

Mornnen

I would say no. Knit the knits and purl the purls as you bind off, but I think that actually working the cable would be unnecessary.

Also, try to BO shortly after cabling so the row is snug. Otherwise the row may stretch too much horizontally and may be too wide if you’re trying to match it to another piece (such as a shoulder seam).
