Beware AI Titles!

Just a word of warning about purchasing knitting books online. This one was brought to my attention, but I’m sure there are many others.

Things to look for / be aware of:
Author’s name is unusual
Obvious AI photographs
Usually just under 100 pages (not sure why, but it’s very consistent)
Read the 1-star reviews…this one has comments like " I have never come across a more confusing, poorly directed book."
Even the sole 5-star review is suspect “Clearly explaining the steps for a more intensive knitting pattern garments!” ???

One reviewer kindly took photos of some pages. Here’s how to knit a sweater:

Good grief.

I heard there’s a lot of this about.
Someone making money on it I’m sure. What a waste of paper, printing, transport costs…
…I also read a few days back that AI uses more water than Denmark. Meanwhile we are guilt tripped about how much water is used to grow cotton for a sweater.

AI = absolute idiocy

Thanks, ColoCro. Good example.
I’ve also seen free patterns from Ravelry appear with the designer photo on Etsy. The Etsy charges are $8-10 and there are complaints about the pattern. Who knows what pattern is being sold.
Knitted Knockers which can be ordered for free from the foundation are for sale on Etsy for about $12.
Check other sources before buying.

There are heaps of free Drops patterns on etsy being sold too.
Some people don’t have a conscience.

Ugh, I already hated AI with a passion because of what it’s doing to creative people’s careers. It’s such garbage.

I can’t believe we’re destroying the planet for this slop. What a world!
